When Girls Incorporated of Winter Haven needed a new roof, they knew right where to get help. Roofing happens to be one of our specialties at A.O. Construction. Our professionals replaced the shingle and TPO roof on the building, which had a leaky TPO roof and missing shingles from wind damage. The replacement involved a 50,000-sqare-foot shingle roof and an 80,000-sqare-foot TPO roof with a 15-year manufacturer’s warranty.

TPO, short for ThermoPlastic Polyolefin, is a type of single-ply roofing membrane that’s become increasingly popular. It goes on a single layer over a flat roof, providing protection from UV rays and water. It’s also highly resilient and long lasting, with a lifespan of up to 30 years. It’s especially common on flat commercial roofs.
This building also has a sloped and shingled portion of the roof. This was originally an architectural shingle roof, and we replaced it with the same style of shingles, using Atlas brand architectural shingles for their exceptional quality to cost ratio and great features like anti-algae protection. These shingles are also great because of the extensive range of colors they come in. For this project, we used Summer Storm — a dark gray color that looks great with the white TPO.
No shingle roof is complete without an underlayment, which goes under the shingle layer and provides extra protection against the elements. Specifically, we used the Atlas brand Ice and Water Shield underlayment, providing exceptional protection against wind-blown rain that gets under shingles during storms, as well as ice that can form during a frost.
Because this was a hybrid job on a large roof, it was a big task. Despite that, we were still able to expedite the job so we had the entire job fully replaced in only four days. If you need a big job done right, call the pros at A.O. Construction.
