At A.O. Construction, we know that being part of the community means creating places that bring people together, from restaurants and medical centers to schools and places of worship. That’s exactly what we’re doing in our latest project, which involves working with Springer Construction to build a new steel structure and standing seam roof for Winter Haven’s Hilltop Church.
The steel building will measure approximately 13,000 square feet and is manufactured by Dean Steel Buildings in Fort Myers. A.O. Construction is erecting the building and installing the roof in-house.
Let’s walk through the progress so far.
We’ve set the steel columns and rafters, and we’ve spotted in Z-purlins to hold the rafters in place.
The wing unit rafters have been set.
We’ve also installed wind braces on the wing unit rafters. These are diagonal braces that tie the rafters of the roof together and provide additional structural integrity.
The eave struts and wind columns have been installed. The wind column is a special column that transfers wind and other forces from the building into the concrete slab.
We’ve filled in the roof Z-purlins and installed the end wall.
Wind braces have also been installed on the Z-purlins.
Here we’ve filled in roof Z-purlins on a wing unit and installed cable bracing.
The foyer rafters and roof purlins have also been put in.
The exterior of the building is really starting to come together now that all the steel framing is complete.
We started this project with setting the steel June 17. Our next steps will be to install hurricane strapping to prepare for running roof panels and insulation.
