At A.O. Construction, we love the satisfaction that comes with supporting Central Florida’s key industries, such as the citrus industry. Since last October, we’ve been doing just that with a project for one of the largest fresh fruit cooperatives in the Florida citrus industry — Dundee CGA.
The project involves site work as well as constructing a 60,000-square-foot Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) made by Dean Steel Buildings in Fort Myers. The building will be used for warehouse purposes, and include electric and a sprinkler system. To help us with the site work, we partnered with Larson’s Grading and Paving. Once the building is finished, Dundee CGA will be leasing it to Pratt Industries, the fifth-largest corrugated packaging company in the USA and the world’s largest, privately-held producer of 100% recycled containerboard.
Below, we have some pictures of the metal building to show off the progress so far.
Our first two pictures show off the new concrete slab that we’ve poured. The primary members of the metal building have been erected, and the secondary members (roof and wall purlins) have been installed. We’ve also installed the bracing for the roof purlins.
Here’s a look at the roof and wall purlins from a different angle.
These last two pictures show where the new building comes off the existing building. The building is single slope in design. You can see that the primary steel is red iron, while the secondary steel is pre-galvanized.
From here, our next steps are to start installing the metal sheeting on the roof and walls and put on other finishing touches to complete the PEMB.
