At A.O. Construction, we love helping Florida businesses continue to succeed when they’ve outgrown their existing facilities. Our latest project for Tarpon Springs’ Creative Shade Solutions is just that. With more than 18 years serving their community with commercial shade structures, they’re now too big for their current facility and in need of a new one.
To give them the ability to grow even more, we erected two 10,000-square-foot Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings (PEMBs) for Creative Shade Solutions. These buildings will be used for fabrication and for offices. Let’s take a look at our progress so far.
These first few pictures show us standing the columns. This building has an 8-foot block wall, and the slab and block wall are constructed before erecting the metal building. Once the steel is erected, we’ll install a metal sheet to finish the wall covering.
The photos above show us installing the rafters. Each rafter consists of two steel members. We put the rafter together on the slab, then we use the Lull to lift and set it all at once. That way we can install the flange braces on the ground, which is more efficient than having to use equipment to install them midair.
In the first picture, you can also see the eave girts installed between the columns. In the second picture, you can get a good look at the purlins installed to tie the rafter together. These are installed as we set the rafters to help keep them in place until we can set the rest of the roof purlins.
Here you can see the roof purlins and wall purlins that have been installed. This is what the wall and roof sheets are fastened to.
Finally, we have a shot that gives a good full view of the current state of the PEMB.
This project began Monday, Nov. 12, and we expect to be finished with both buildings by the end of the year.
